Trautman
Associates used precast stone panels, banding, sills and numerous
accent stones for an Elementary & High School addition including
a new gymnasium. The mix was a natural Portland gray with a
light etch for the High School and Indiana limestone for the
elementary school addition. After the project was underway,
the school was approached to have their mascot (the Panther)
cast in stone and placed above the main entrance of their new
gymnasium. The idea was whole-heartedly accepted and Southside
sculpted and cast the 48 diameter panther - instilling
fear into Franklinvilles opposing teams as they enter
the gymnasium.
The architects use of the precast stone greatly enhanced
the appearance of what could have been a very plain structure.
The top banding was accented smartly with an upside down type
of keystone breaking up a common line.
