Southside
Precast Products took on the challenge of duplicating
the railing profiles that outline areas of the American
Red Cross located in the prestigious area of Delaware
Ave. in Buffalo, NY.
Foit-Albert Associates was in the need to locate a wheelchair
access ramp without harming the natural charm of the building.
The intricate railing profiles therefore needed to be
included to keep its historic, original look. The
original structure was constructed around the turn of
the century with an entire face and trim of natural limestone.
Working
closely with the architect and contractor, Southside was
able to capture not only the intricate design, but a near
perfect match to the original limestone. This was done
in a panel form to accommodate the ramps changing elevation
and maintain the lines of the original design.
The total project consisted of duplicate caps, lower sloped
stones, end piers and other miscellaneous filler stones
to complete the project.
